Macclesfield – Cheshire is a well-known market town in England with a population of about 55,000. It is believed the town was named after Michael’s field and St. Michael’s church which was erected in 1278. The town was known historically for holding its weekly market as well as two yearly fairs, which were held on June 11 and November 1. Macclesfield was also the administrative hub for east Cheshire.
It’s located on the River Bollin in east Cheshire and is about 30 miles from the city of Chester. The region was used for deer hunting and raising cattle and sheep. The local railway station makes Macclesfield – Cheshire an easy place to get to, especially from close centers such as Manchester, Stoke, and Birmingham. Trips to London by train take a little over 90 minutes.
